Did you know there are sssoooooo many benefits to reading to children before they start school?

Reading helps build social and emotional skills, sparks creativity and imagination, promotes bonding, and helps kids do well overall in school.

Take that motivation, open one book, and get started with our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge!

Does 1,000 books seem like too many?

Not at all! 1,000 is just a number.

The goal is to work reading aloud into your regular routine, and let the magic of stories do the rest.

Complete the challenge by logging all 1,000 Books and earn a certificate of completion (available at our front desk)! Until then tell a staff member you’re participating, and sign your child’s name on a leaf to go on our participation display inside the library. We'll be cheering you on as you go, so check in with staff as you reach different milestones. We have fun stickers you can receive for each 100 books you read, and some fun book suggestions if you need something different.
